Jefferson County is located in Central Oregon and includes
the cities of Warm Springs, Camp Sherman, Culver, Madras,
Metolius, Ashwood and Crooked River Ranch.
Jefferson County is considered a high desert climate boasting 300 days of sunshine
each year.
Some of the county's finest achievements are not places
or edifices. They celebrate a cultural diversity that
makes not only Jefferson County but also the Unites States
great.
Home of the Warm Springs, Wasco, and Paiute tribes, the
Warm Springs Reservation is inhabited bynearly 4,000 tribal
members, most of whomlive in or around the town of

Warm Springs. It is home to the Kah-Nee-Ta Resort and
the award-winning Museum at Warm Springs which hosts many
cultural events such as salmon bakes, dancing, drumming,
storytelling and more.
Central Oregon’s climate is recognized as a year-round
destination for professional and amateur bikers. Several
national competitions areheld here each year, including
the

Cascade Cycling Classic that draws world-class competitors
such as Greg Lamond and Lance Armstrong.
Other outdoor activities include golf, fishing, rock climbing, hiking,
camping, horseback riding and white water rafting.
Jefferson County is in the center of winter fun for cross-country and
alpine skiers, snow boarders, snowmobilers, sledders and everyone who likes
playing in the snow. Though Jefferson County does not have a ski resort
within its boundaries, there are two world-class resorts within easy driving
distance including Mt. Bachelor, which is home to several world class ski
and snowboard events. |
