The
Beach House combines old beach house features with modern
comforts. Situated high on sand dunes of the Alabama Gulf
Shores, it rises three stories to give breathtaking views
of the Gulf of Mexico.
Outside
are tin roofs and large porches. Inside, you'll find pine,
ceramic tile and beaded board. Round timbers rise through
the house, like the masts of old sailing ships.
Both sunrise and sunset unfold over the sea. Only 200
yards to the east is the Bon Secour National Wildlife
Refuge with sand dunes and live oak stretching as far
as the eye can see. To the west of The Beach House is
an enclave of vacation cottages. The view extends ten
miles in each direction, from the nighttime glow of Gulf
Shores to historic Fort Morgan at the end of the peninsula.
The main living area features comfortable sofa and chairs,
together with a library table upon which to spread out
any of the hundreds of books on hand. The panoramic view
extends across the horizon.
Guest rooms are equipped with satellite television and
wireless internet access. Each room or suite has pine
floors, oriental rugs, private bath, luxury towels, robes,
and toiletries. Beds have premium mattresses, sumptuous
featherbeds, down pillows, luxury linens, and bedside
tables with proper reading lamps. Rooms features a ceiling

fan, a sea view and candles. Central A/C is provided
in hot weather.
The kitchen includes a guest refrigerator (always stocked
with juices, soft drinks, beer, and wine), an ice maker
and a coffee machine, all available around-the-clock.
Nearby a snack basket offers assorted cookies, candy,
chips and crackers. A cozy booth invites you to wake
up with the coffee while you watch the sun rise over
the water.
The huge first floor porch wraps around the house from
the southeast to the west, providing several nooks.
Scattered about are wicker furniture, hammock, and hanging
chairs. A smattering of teak tables provide places to
slip away for breakfast or midday snack. The second
floor screened porch provides a prime spot for watching
sunsets color the sky. Wicker and hanging chairs provide
places to settle in with afternoon wine.
Outdoor stairs take you up to the hot tub, where you
can soak away tensions under sunny sky or moon and stars.
Reading is a favorite beach pastime. Bring a book if
you have a favorite, but if not, don't worry. Bookcases
on all three floors hold hundreds of books.
If
you want to explore, go a few miles west to Fort Morgan
and climb the battlements, or catch the auto ferry to
Dauphin Island, Mobile, Bellingrath Gardens, or the
casinos of Biloxi. A few miles to the east, Gulf Shores
and Orange Beach provide many choices for shopping,
dinner and dancing, and Foley is home to an

extensive outlet mall. Further east, Pensacola has its
own world of restaurants and attractions, including the
Naval Aviation Museum. If you like to meander, scenic
back roads can take you to the small bay towns of Fairhope
and Daphne. A variety of golf courses, including nationally-ranked
Kiva Dunes, are just a few minutes from our home.
When
you arrive in the afternoon or evening, you will be greeted
with fresh baked breads and your choice of beverage. Whether
you sleep late or rise early to watch the sunrise over
the water, our own custom blend of coffee and our special
breakfast blend of chilled fruit juices are ready and
waiting. Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 10:30am, and
is guaranteed to be hearty, beautiful and delicious (fresh-baked
breads, fresh fruit, egg dishes, etc.). The particulars
vary from day to day, guaranteeing you a special breakfast
experience each morning. You can enjoy breakfast nestled
in the kitchen booth or sitting at one of the teak tables
scattered about the big wrap-around porch. Throughout
the afternoon, a variety of beverages are freely available
including chilled juices, soft drinks, beer, and wine.
You may also help yourself to fresh fruit and other snacks
any time you wish.
For dining out, choices abound. Just a few minutes to
the east, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach provide a wide
variety of restaurants. To the west, you will find restaurants
at The Beach Club and at the marina near Fort Morgan.
A nearby oyster bar is both a casual restaurant and a
sports bar. Fresh fish and seafood are caught locally
in the Gulf.
