Heads-up travel notes from 20 year veteran travel consultant, Chip Stevens, CTC

..

By now, most business travelers have become aware of the cost of doing business with a travel agent.  Courtesy of the airlines’ collective decision to not pay travel agents a commission for selling their product, travel agents have been forced to pass this cost on to the customers.  The airlines say they are doing the travel agent a favor by forcing them to charge what they are worth, but in effect they are raising the cost of travel on the consumers' back.  For the frequent business traveler, the travel agent can be a tremendous asset when they’re on the road.  I don’t know how many times I have helped travelers out of a jam when a flight cancelled, or saved them money by adjusting itineraries or dates, effectively “consulting” on behalf of the passenger.

Even with all the technology changes in travel distribution, nothing can beat the expertise of a good travel agent.  Savvy business travelers know the value of utilizing a travel agent’s service, even though they could save money by buying direct from the carrier or on the Internet.  Their time is too valuable to waste trying to negotiate a website or waiting on hold.

The key is to find a good agent, develop a mutual trust and respect each other’s time and ability. If travel is a part of your business than a travel agent can be your best friend in making sure things go as smoothly as possible.

If you need assistance in managing your travel plans, I would welcome the opportunity to help you.  Please call me toll free at 800-986-3371.

With best regards,
